First, I didn't know about shiftENTER. Second, I had browsed the
Hotkeys help page, and when I went back this time to search for
shift-Enter, the description does *not* include "Highlight ..."
anything; it tells about other use, and the only *hint* is "right
button" ...
So I guess the answer to both your questions was Yes.

I use virt screens and cursor cannot keep up with mouse on this
system. TAB to active fields can be pretty rapid though, particularly
in things like directory lists if you don't know what something is
called and can't use F-7.

And I did the test again, totally mouse free this time, and the file
I selected [textarea.txt] remained gone.
