We don't know - are you using Windows when you get that message ?
All 56k modems are not necessarily Winmodems, v90 or otherwise.
What is the make and model of the modem, and what is the exact
nature of your email problem - with Arachne version #.
Can you surf the web ?
I would say if you get a connect string at all, then your modem
init string must be acceptable.
