56K V.90 is a protocol that replaced K56flex and X2.  Such a modem can be a
Winmodem or a real modem.  Did your modem come with documentation regarding AT
commands?  My connect says CONNECT 50667 or CONNECT 49333, or sometimes a lower 
speed.
