It's a conspiracy and you know it. I found out that win311 is unwanted on
any 586: They just won't provide drivers any more, and even keep telling
me that I'm doing the impossible when I use the internet with a 16 bit
system. Of course, computers, just like bikes, don't wear down as long as
they are maintained, but unfortunately (and unlike bikes) they do evoluate
to make their predesessors look antique within 5 years. Nowadays, you really
have to do realtime video editing, in order to defend the ownership of an
average new computer. That's just different than faxing internet pages
using Arachne's alt-p.
Anyway, Arachne may not be "the poor man's browser", but there are
definitely limits to what she can put to use. Fatware is designed to
fill up space that otherwise wouldn't be sold. Arachne is a smart man's
browser, and smart people know to keep their income low, in order to
keep in touch with such old fashioned expressions as the "value" instead
of the "price" of things and time. (Maybe I could describe it as some
sort of psychological "real mode" whereas the feeling some people give
me that reality can only be a threat to their air castles, could be
described as "protected mode" since they are driven by fear to loose
their fantasy in practically every decision they take.)
I can't say more, because I don't have my filosofy patented yet...
