Could this be similar to the Yahoo POP3/SMTP mechanations I have to go
through?

Have you tried downloading mail and then sending mail in mailbox
*immediately* thereafter?

Yahoo uses a temp cookie sorta thing that expires in something like 10
minutes, so if I'm to write 'off line' and then send replies via Yahoo I
have to 'download mail' again [even if there's nothing there] and then
it will accept an upload to smtp
