Yes, you are quite correct in assuming that ZBMs can only be auto-viewed
while using Arachne. (any version from 1.40 on up)
All that is required are these 3 lines in mime.cfg (lines cut for eMail)

(for viewing "local" files)
file/.zbm >BMP|[150]md $a\\zbm \n pkunzip -o $1 $azbm \n copy /b
 $azbm\\*.bmp $2 \n del $azbm\\*.bmp

(for viewing D/Led files such as.......
http://caverge.arachne.cz/myfiles/xperimental/arachne.zbm )
image/x-zbitmap >BMP|[150]md $a\\zbm \n pkunzip -o $1 $azbm \n copy /b
 $azbm\\*.bmp $2 \n del $azbm\\*.bmp

(for eMail attachments such as the one attached to this message)
image/zbm ZBM
_____________

On your last point.....
"Not just everybody has a system that is capable of handling
such an advanced browser as Arachne."

You are again quite correct. Not just everybody has an 8086 or above. ;)
Arachne does after all require only an 8086.
