Hi there Gangue,
Edinburgh is a cold and icy place this morning with sleet and hailstones
all around, temperature below zero. It must be the start of Summer, well
officially we changed out the clocks to British Summer time last night!
All I can say is I am glad to be heading off to Spain in four weeks time
for a short spring break.
On the Foot and Mouth epidemic, here we are now with more confirmed
cases than the last big outbreak in 1967, over 430 at the last count,
and the UK Government stil "has things under control", as if any
Government ever has? Despite all this there has been a move to get
people back into the countryside (Come back to the Country Code), most
likely because the mathematics of the situation show that the UK is
losing more from the lack of tourism, both internal and external from
other countries, than we are from destroying the farmers livelihoods. Am
I cynical? of course (not).
It does seem suspicious though that all the things we could not do four
weeks ago are suddenly permissible again just as we come up to the start
of the Easter holiday period. Traditionally this is when the caravan and
the weekend breaks all start up again after the winter, and of course
there is BIG money involved. It is reckoned over 335M ukP lost this
month in Central Scotland alone from tourism, and the season not started
yet. That's around 700M us$!
Nothing particular on the Arachne and/or ISP front. BUT! does anyone
know just what css features Arachne is now supposed to support? I CAN'T
SO FAR FIND ANY. I thought 1.70 was supposed to have at least some
basic css support? My arachne4dos freeserve site is getting over 100
hits each week. I really need to up-date it, but I am very busy with
commercial and caravan stuff at present. I still haven't solved the
xswap error on a script, and this is still a disappointment in that it
used to work fine in earlier versions, and yet doesn't now.
In the Western world, today is (manufactured) Mother's Day or more
properly, Mothering Sunday. Both my daughters have phoned to say they
will be here later to see Ella (she who rocked the cradle, and now rules
my world!), and also to tell us they both had Breakfast prepared for
them by their daughters! (Luke-warm coffee, burnt toast, eggs boiled too
long in one case, too short in the other) To all the Mothers out there,
including those on the list, I send you my love and a cyber hug. Where
would we all be without you?
To the rest of you, did you remember it was Mother's day? Give her a
call if you forgot, it might get you off the hook. Those in the UK, did
you remember to change your clock? Otherwise you'll be an hour out for
work to-morrow.
Regards
Mel
