Some software companies have enjoyed considerable success in developing
and marketing some programs designed to keep one from attempting to a
access a site that is deemed not suitable for being viewed by children.
These same companies could also just as well develop some software to keep
us from trying to access sites that are not compliant with the standards
required by our browsers. I would pay good money for such a program.
Then I wouldn't be wasting any more of my time trying to get into such
bad websites. As things are now, I have no way of judging whether a
website is bad for being accessed with my browser until I have been there
and done that. Another solution would be for members of an Arachne user's
group or members of an Opera users group to submit complaints about bad
websites to their respective group moderators. The list of bad websites
could be periodically revised and updated and made available for the users
to download. A special plugin or patch could be developed to provide the
function of warning us every time we type in a URL or click on a link for
the known villains identified in the special list or database. If any
webmaster wants his site to be removed from the list, then all he would
have to do would be to clean up his act so as to make his site comply
with our standards. Adopting measures such as these might result in
some very positive reforms. As the alternative browsers are becoming
increasingly more popular, the bad websites will become more and more
unpopular. This is a great sign of better things to come.

All the best,

Sam Heywood
