What kind of cablemodem ??
if it is hooked up to a normal network card, than it's completely
transparent. (read: simply forget the modem, and deal with the NIC)
You need a packetdriver for the network card, and know your netowrk
settings.
Than load the packetdriverm, and simply set arachne to resident
packetdriver.

I use Arachne also behind a linux masquerading server.
Should be no problem !
[basic masquerading setup:
ip 192.168.0.X
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.0.1
dns <dns of your isp>
]
