... When is a crash not a crash? When it *looks* like a crash -- full
blank black screen, monitor "turned off" -- but ALT-X to leave Arachne
brings back the screen.
HUH? I didn't say it made sense, but that's what just happened to me.
I was visiting a website with scads of listings and links, and was
having little success looking for what I wanted. So what better time
could there be to use F-7 and search for the desired word/string?
I hit F-7, the field was blank, I typed in "ethics" [without quotation
marks] and hit ENTER.
And that's when I got black screen, and that's when I heard my monitor
shutting itself down ["Green" can be a royal pain ...].
So I thought to myself, "If only the screen is turned off ... will I get
it back when I leave Arachne?" And at that point it was ALT-X, and
guess what -- the screen was back, with the Arachne message on use
arachne -r etc.
Those are my adventures of the day on Arachne v 1.70r3 ...
I'm pretty sure this has happened before, but it wasn't until today that
the light bulb went on and I tried ALT-X.
