It is easier to hack in to some systems than others. Windows 9x systems are
easier than NT that is easier than Linux. AFAIK you can't hack into a DOS
computer, except - of course - if you run a telnet server. But I can see a
small diffrence between real mode and protected mode with a buffer overrun
attack.
The network can make it easier or harder to hack in (such as a switched
network) but your ability to get into a certain computer is mostly
depending on the programs run on it, including the OS/GUI.
