Howard, I only did this AFTER I started to get my authentication
failure.....normally, with my usual ISP, my normal Arachne PAP works
just fine.

I don't know why you included Bernie's quote here.....I fully agree...
and don't mess around with anything but Arachne's normal PAP/CHAP, but,
when this failed, I dropped to a terminal status to see what was going
on...AND...found out that is was the "PAP Authentication Failed" that
was happening..

NOW...WHY..???  do you think this might be....???   Is this ISP using
some non-standard type of authentication...???.....other than Arachne's
normal, standard PAP/CHAP...???
I've noticed allusions to "Ms-PAP" or "MS-CHAP"...is this some wierd,
non-standard, excluding type twist on the PAP/CHAP standard...??

I'm google-searching and coming up with quite a bit of interesting,
useful information, but I wanted you folks to throw in your thoughts,
to maybe help me narrow my field of study....<g>
