et al,
I answer this forwarded message on the list, because some other
newbie might want the technique in the future:

Dear Gregy:
It seems that several List members swap core.exe's in the same
Arachne installation using a batch file. How is this done? I use
only one core.exe but keep a backup copy renamed core1.bak just
in case some one asks a question specific to my original install.
I moved back to 1.65 for regular use because of the probs with
later Arachne versions. Latest Arachne version would take too
much time to install {or re-install} right now. I already have
four Arachne installations.

Thomas, et al,
I will not include/attach CSWAP.BAT, which I have sent to you by
separate email attachment. Anyone else who wants it can privately
email me and I'll send it. This is just a brief explanation:
1. MakeDir \ACORES\ on one of the partitions of a convenient HDD
2. Copy into \ACORES\ CORE166.EXE, CORE169.EXE, CORE170.EXE from
....core.exe of the 1.66, 1.69, and 1.70r3 distributions.
3. Copy CSWAP.BAT into \ACORES\, also, as a convenient place to
....keep a safe copy.
4. Copy CSWAP.BAT into the \ARACHNE\ directory of whatever install
....you run.
5. After Arachne has launched, at whatever point you want to switch
....to using a different core.exe, you must ALT-E, then type "cswap XXX"
....to run CSWAP.BAT, then type "exit" and you will be returned to
....Arachne, now running the core.exe from the version you chose with
....the "XXX" commandline argument.
