I've assembled my old 486-66 system with MSDOS 6.22 and a 14.4K modem,
and installed Arachne 1.66, configured to run with the bizarro videocard
and monitor that I happen to have. Actually with Microsoft Office 4.3
running on Windows 3.1 it's a fairly useful and stable little system,
if you don't mind working in black and white!!! :-) But I have a question
for y'all out there. Arachne runs better than I expected in CGA mode.
I realize too that this mode is experimental. Is it still available
in the latest version of Arachne? Has it changed at all? I find no
reference to it on the Arachne web site... (and I realize I might be
the only one in the world using that mode - but if it ain't broke, why
fix it?)

Every so often, though, a strange thing happens - some of the characters
disappear on some web pages, then if I scroll down a hair, they re-appear.
Again, I realize that CGA mode is experimental. But I am curious if any
one knows - is this a function of the color of the characters and background
of the web page? If they are black on white will they always be visible?
And is there a setting in Arachne to "force" it to always display web
pages in a user defined color scheme, like is possible with Netscape?
If so, then in theory I could set pages to always be black letters
on a white background and always see the characters.

Has anyone played around enough with CGA mode to know if this just might
work, and if so, how to tell Arachne to do this? I'm just happy to see
an Arachne screen at all in CGA mode!

Thanks one and all!
