Nonsense. The Slackware 3.5 kernels are perfectly stable.
Of course, if you use the incorrect kernel for your
hardware, it may "bomb out".

Is the package from Slackware 3.5? If not, your
guess is as good as mine.

This would be the master drive on your primary IDE cable.

I think this is likely. If you are running several
different operating systems on the same HDD, you need
to be *very* careful with your housekeeping. I think
it is wise to use only DOS fdisk to create and delete
DOS partitions. And only Linux fdisk for Linux
partitons. And ditto OS/2.
