I have an older laptop that has W95, but I use Arachne or Nettamer for
browsing and the rest of time other dos programs for Amateur Radio. Can
I install Freedos without messing with the hard drive? I just came from
the Freedos site, and it sounds like that I just install it. Does the
old msdos remain? or is it overwritten with the Freedos?

I haven't been to FreeDOS Web site in many months. I think there was an install
program that came with FreeDOS, otherwise you could unzip into a \FREEDOS
directory. You might have to boot one (FreeDOS or W95) from hard disk and the
other from drive A, assuming both reside in the same partition.
