and Clarence Verge responded:
First, a question: What is 6.3 ?
Second, the only ways I know of to reduce DOS cluster size are:
1) Switch to FAT32. (Nooo. DON'T do it!)
2) Use Fdisk to create several logical drives.
For 2k cluster size in FAT16 mode, specify a max size of 125M
For 4k cluster size, specify 250M, for 8k, 500M
and you get 16k in the 500-1000M range.
Now I respond:
I don't know what 6.3 is either, but the size maxima are a little too low,
should be just under 128 MB for 2K cluster, just under 256 MB for 4K cluster,
etc. Now I have one DOS partition with 65 cylinders of 63/32 MB each, cluster
size 2K, and another DOS partition of 130 cylinders on the same hard disk,
cluster size 4K. Rest may go for Linux or NetBSD.
Another way to avoid the bloated DOS cluster size is to switch to Linux or
(Free, Net or Open) BSD. With Linux, you can still run Arachne!
