It is the SirCam virus/worm. I have received heaps of them. :(
It is "caught" by Outlook Express, picks up a nice big file (.DOC or
.JPG etc) from the MY_DOCUMENTS folder in Win9x, and emails it (plus
virus) to every address in the address book. The attachment comes as a
nnnnnn.doc.com or nnnn.jpg.lnk or similar. Windows 9+ sees only the
.doc or .jpg and runs it. And so it goes on.
Arachne, clever thing that she is, does not run them. Not even those
called nnnn.doc.bat (I got one of these, too).
The real problem for us Aracnoids is the size of the damn things - at
least 200 kb, and I got 2 MB of them (6) the other day, one of which was
over 1 MB.
Sadly, my ISP that I use for mail finally told me that telnet is
forbidden to all except their own techs, so I was advised to just download
them and then delete them. What a novel idea !
Regards,
Ron - who is not knowingly a turtle.
