What a novel idea ! My ISP says the same. They say that it isn't possible for a subscriber to use Telnet to check on his email, but this is just a lie. I do it all the time. Why don't ISPs just periodically perform routine virus scans of their mail servers? Then they can just simply delete the viruses from the mail servers before anyone gets them.
