Worm,

You're young maybe, and made the statement about Windows being better
because you've known little else?

There was a company that produced DOS-based software which made Windows
look like the slow, kludgy, bloated mess that it is; consequently, it
was a company that Microsoft did everything possible to drive out of
business. They succeeded. Quarterdeck, and DESQview, died after much
struggle.

There weren't a bunch of GUIs in DV. DV would run just about every DOS
program, and would have run more if Quarterdeck hadn't been driven first
out of the country, then out of business. The first decent time-slicing
user friendly software resided in DV.

BION, many software developers *hate* having to work to make their
software function under Windows contraints. My heavens, no DOS program
was expected to have precisely the same type help system, precisely the
same command/control keys, precisely the same look/feel as every other
program out there ... but to develop for Windows that's how it must be
done, or your software won't get sold. :<

If there were a viabile alternative to Dozerwarez, those software
developers would LUV to shorten, clean-up, and rewrite their programs to
their *own* standards. Honest -- no decent programmer *likes* spaghetti
code, and that's what dozerwarez applications are expected to have.

Windows WASN'T always better, ISN'T always better, and NEVER will be
"always better" because to make better/best comparisons there has to be
two things of pretty much equal design &/or function. And M$ management
and ownership has made its main goal the destruction of any and all
viable, or potentially viable, competition.

And that is why some of us still make comparisons and still dream. If
references are made to Windows in those comparisons, it is only because
so many people are ignorant of better software ... having never used a
computer until after M$ had taken its "market share."
