Steven,

What is the snag with such programs as dhcp client and pppoe module? Is it
compiling programs written for newer kernels and libraries to run on older
kernels and libraries? I think you use kernels from Slackware 3.5 or somewhere
in that vicinity, and I don't think pppoe existed back then, though dhcp would
have existed (dhcp was in OS/2 Warp 4, but not pppoe).

I'd be curious to browse the BasicLinux Web page again, even if I don't decide
to try it, considering my internal CD-ROM drive on Trantor T130B SCSI.

Might there be a way for the user to add modules to BasicLinux, or would that
require the gcc compiler suite, too big for BasicLinux?
