If mindspring is a real ISP you can get on with DOS.
Most tech support people who work at real ISPs don't know that
you can get on with DOS. They will just tell you that you can't.
They are afraid to tell you that they don't know, because if they
admit they don't know, they are afraid that you will think they are
stupid and ignorant for not knowing what you think they are
supposed to know. Rather than to admit that they don't know, they
think it is smart to give you an incorrect answer. They think
that you will just simply accept their answer and stop trying to
get on with DOS. It doesn't occur to them that you might be smart
enough to figure out how ignorant they are. People who don't know
all those things they are supposed to know will be smart to simply
admit to their ignorance.
