I also normally get my mail with Arachne via a pop3 server when at home
and DL the stuff to the HD for sorting and/or disposal.
When at work, (different city) I access exactly the same mailbox, also
with Arachne and pop3, to see if there is anything interesting enough
to act upon immediately. I leave the mail on the server tho, so as not
to screw up my archiving at home.
This does not involve any long distance calling, or unusual setup.
I simply specify the full mailbox address I wish to access to my
ISP at work and Bob's yur uncle. <G>
As long as the software you use will let you specify the proper email
address for pickup (with the proper password) you should be able to
read your mail anywhere.
