-------------------------------------------- http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~ichi/slack.html -------------------------------------------- Slackware 3.x is good for survPCs because it uses a barebones approach which is less demanding on hardware. However, this approach puts a greater burden on the user. It is pretty hard for a complete newbie to get Slackware 3.x up and running. I suggest that newbies start with BasicLinux (which is based on Slackware 3.5). Installation is simple (usually) and it provides a less painful introduction to a Slackware-type CLI system. It is even possible to install BasicLinux to HD and add standard Slackware 3.5 packages, so BasicLinux can be tranformed step-by-step into a complete Slackware 3.5.
