Tom is right.

Giving away copies of the disks (or images of the original disks),
is a violation of copyright laws. :(

However....
The original (not copied), diskettes *can* be sold without violating
any copyrights.

The seller would then be relinquishing their licence to the the buyer.

The strange thing about this situation....

--- hypotrhetic case #1 ---
1) original piece of software cost 100 USD
2) discontinued by original company
3) now in "big demand"
4) current owner finds buyer willing to pay 500 USD
(does not keep a copy for own use)

(100% legal)

--- hypotrhetic case #2 ---
1) original piece of software cost 100 USD

3) now in "small demand"
4) current owner gives away a copy (or multiple copies), for FREE
(might also keep a copy for own use or to continue
    giving away copies to others)

(100% ILLEGAL)
