Hey, gangue ...

Was just wondering how many of you this kid brings memories back to? I
personally am too old to remember much of when I was that young a kid in
school, but many years after I was a grown-up I had kids of my own, and
also went on to be a school teacher dealing with kids like this.

I can just picture him standing in the middle of the room, wearing his
$200 running shoes and clothes that were rejected by GoodWill, stamping
his feet in frustration and yelling and turning red in the face ... all
because he knows he's losing control -- or never had any to begin with
-- over the situation.

The absolute necessity of being right about something -- ANYthing -- was
most often a sure indication of a child mired in a total lack of self-
image, totally unsure of himself, and afraid that the big bad outside
world was going to find out too.

It's a sad situation, but not one we can do anything about. By the time
they reach this stage, they are on their own and will have to succeed or
fail on their own, because no amount of outside "help" is acceptable to
them.

Considering the circumstances, about all we can do is ignore his
behavior and hope that he soon seeks another venue in which to prove
himself to himself...

How are the rest of you doing at survival plans for the holidays?
