Hello:

I am always being spammed by people offering for sale illegal
pirated and cracked versions of expensive payware, illegal cable
TV descramblers, fraudulent insurance policies, and child
pornography.

I never get spammed by people offering to sell stolen goods,
illegal guns and silencers, and other illegal weapons and
destructive devices, and illegal drugs and moonshine whiskey.

Dealing in any of the contraband mentioned in the two paragraphs
above can get a person into just as much trouble with the law.
The brother of a friend of mine was sentenced to five years in
the penitentiary just for making and selling illegal cable TV
descramblers.

Maybe the reason why I am getting so much spam advertising
the types of contraband listed in the first paragraph is that
perhaps the spammers think that people are highly unlikely to
report trafficking in the types of contraband listed in the first
paragraph. As far as the law is concerned, trafficking in any of
the illegal commodities mentioned above is just as bad and
damnable. It would certainly seem that advertising contraband
for sale over the internet would result in a much higher
likelihood of getting caught than by advertising it on the street
to persons who seem to be shady characters and easy marks who are
actively shopping for it. I cannot understand why contraband is
being promoted by spam. As far as I am concerned, I just hate
being spammed, regardless of whatever they are selling, and
regardless of whether their merchandise is legal or illegal.

Opinions, comments, anyone?
