There were several brands ( PC-chips ...) , but since it cost more and the
average user understood none of that stuff , it was rarely implemented .

(MS-DOS) himem.sys : no ( this is only an XMS provider ). You would need a
3-rd party UMB provider to use your Neat UMBs ( many share or even free- or
Gnu-ware .) ,

(DR-DOS)  hidos.sys : built-in  , at least for  Neat chipset or equivalent.

DR-DOS was always in advance - until they had to throw the sponge .
