No need.  BasicLinux has its own GCC.  Just click GCC on the
BasicLinux site for full installation instructions.

BasicLinux starts small, but it can be expanded to whatever
you want using packages from Slackware 3.5.  I ran Netscape 
on BasicLinux and it worked fine.  I used BasicLinux to compile
mc and that worked fine too.
