BECAUSE what you describe is the itchy scratchy touchy feely clikity -
clikity GUI users method which will take at least 30 seconds on a '386
and maybe a couple of minutes on an XT (who cares) but MY method goes
as fast as you can type on ANY box. <G> 
i.e. You can shortcut to DOS from any screen.
And there's so MANY things that go easier that universal way.
