Dear list:
We have been having more fun with DOS comms programs.
Last night I had Arachne browsing nicely from a BOA_DOS server connected
via two modems at each end of a lenght of twin with some 50v power
dribbled into it. (this is a mock up of a kilometre of second hand
phone wire dangled through the Lantana).
(CB radios do not work well in this topography because of the cliffs,
gulleys, rain and trees)

The BOA_DOS server had PPPDD.exe loading the slip packet vector at 0x60
and Arachne was configured normally except that the IP was fixed at the
number on the server.
Also the CUTCP program ran over the same link giving ftp between both
machines. I did not bother configuring a dialler - just used TELIX top
establish communication before loadign the packet drivers.

The whole exercise is very sweet, but probably useless unless the DOS
server can be run as a DOS router to the LAN. I was disappointed not to
get multitasking to work as that was plan #1 to get several com ports
workign at the same time. James is talking of writing sortware to
amalgamate packets. He is rapt in the program PVDEMO we got from FDISK
page I think.
Bye for today
Kali
