If they were promoting such frauds through US Postal Service snail mail they would get prosecuted. Regardless of whether they are promoting a fraud, all spammers should be prosecuted. Spamming is an act of criminal trespass as defined under the statutes of my state. The authorities are eager to prosecute the perverts who make obscene phone calls. Similarly they should be out to get the spammers for the same reasons. A lot of the spam I get is really quite obscene. Some of it even includes large JPG image attachments.
