Yep, I have audiocv, but never had the time to play with it.
I guess I will have to make the time.

Looks like it. :)
Although bit-rate has a great deal to do with final file size. I have
found it directly proportional - 128 bps makes a file twice the size of
a 64 bps MP3.

This didn't work for me. It seemed that MPXPLAY (v. 147) didn't like
to be called from outside its own directory, or Arachne didn't like
something I couldn't spot, and I wasn't able to get MPXPLAY to work from
inside Arachne at all. :(
For a while.
So, I tried it as:
MIME.CFG:
file/.ogg |@call playogg.bat $1
with PLAYOGG.BAT as a one line:
d:\mpx\mpxp147\mpmplay.exe %1
and Bob's your uncle - away we go. :)
