Hi Arachnoids
For several reasons I had to install Arachne 1.71UE again and for other
and the same reasons I had to erase everything and do a format C:\.
After installing Win95 again from CD and Norton and Windows commander
Arachne 1.71UE was on the row.
I used the wizard, gave the telephone number, passwords etc. all was
going well...
Until dialing: Not enough memory !

I checked with C:\ mem and nothing was loaded in upper memory.
himem.sys and emm386.exe were not there, they are not in Win95.
So I added those two memory managers, copied them from an other machine,
into C:\windows\command and restarted the computer.
NOT ENOUGH MEMORY !
They have to be activated with config.sys when booting.
So at the start of config.sys I added the following two lines:
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\himem.sys
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\emm386.exe RAM
Now, after rebooting the machine, all went well and Arachne showed
(after pressing Alt M) Dos memory 89+ (green)
After dialing no connection with Arachne homepage could be made... is it
dead? But e-mail sending and receiving went OK.
**************** the DOS command mem/c gives full details about memory
but the report takes over one screen. To see all of it: write it to a
file... mem/c > mem-c.txt
