PS...I remember when our big barrel ran out.  It was September 21, 1945.
My mother sent me out to get a measuring cup full, she was baking me
and my sister a birthday cake.  There was just barely enough left for
that cake.

PPS...and our little Studebaker Champion, 4-cyl, with overdrive, could
get a lot of miles on 3 galons....<g g g>.....but, then, most people
walked or rode a bike.  And most people seemed to me to be more
healthy, then...(but maybe this is just one of those idilic childrens'
memories)......<g g g>
