Bob,
OK...here's where it gets a tad tricky, BUT, it is an option.
What you would need to do is purchase your registration for the
use of Arachne on multiple user systems...then, run it through
an install on a test machine. When setting up the "tcp/ip", you
choose "No Connection to Internet". Save this setup, no need
to enter any other Internet data, no email addresses, etc. Save
this as probably something like OFFLINE.ACF. Next step is to
remove ALL the networking components...this is quite a long list,
but Miniterm, Insight, EPPPD, maybe LSPPP, all the NIC drivers,
these are in the sub-directory /arachne/system/devdrvr, remove
all references to external connections in the ACF file also, it
will be named ARACHNE.CFG too. Basically, you will need the
font files, the DGI components to clear the cache, and tell
it where to store temp files, etc. While this is a workable
solution, you would need to have the proper license to distribute
this reduced Viewer Only Version on your media. Another possible
workaround is to use it to view ONE HTML document at a time, by
commandline only, something like:
C:\ARACHNE\CORE.EXE SOMEFILE.HTM then press ENTER...
This loads ONLY the HTML rendering without loading the other
parts that get launched by way of the ARACHNE.BAT file...
but, you can only view ONE HTML document at a time this way...
and it may crash unexpectedly...but I have done it! Used to
use CORE.EXE as a "helper" file in Norton Commander, hehe!
C U L8R!
