Laurie, The basics of HTML are sooooo easy to learn - give it a try.
Save a web page to your hard drive, then look at the source code (file*.htm or file*.html) and compare that to what you see with the browser. Check out a particular piece of text on the web page, then search for that in the source document. Change the text in the source, then SAVE AS to another name (for example, file2.htm). Now look at FILE2.HTM with the browser. Voila - your changes appear on the web page. You can do the same with graphics by replacing the original GIF, JPG, (etc, etc) file with your own graphics file. Maybe a personal photo or a favorite GIF file. Voila - the original web page will now show your graphic. The same applies for hyperlinks, tables, and a lot of the other stuff. Play with it by changing different variables and see what that does. Change it back if you don't like it. With a hands-on coach you could probably grasp the basics within an hour. There are a lot of instructional web sites for HTML if you want to learn over the web. It's that easy. Most HTML deals strictly with the display format of the information. Javascript gets more difficult, but a lot of pages never use JS. You could probably follow the above steps and create your own personal home page for Arachne within a few hours It is amazing what can be done with only HTML - especially with Arachne's ability to shell out to DOS. That's why I like it as a learning and teaching tool. It's easy to learn the basics, make some modifications to the source page, and (Voila) you are an instant author or "computer programmer". Have fun. Bob On Tue, 17 Dec 2002 05:44:13 +0000 "Laurie L Proud" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: <snip, snip> > I feel guilty sometimes that I do not know HTML programming.
