I rather doubt it.
I just tried to get myself a new web counter, at
www.textcounter.org, and when the code arrived, it was written in
JavaScript. Arachne couldn't see it (and so it is absolutely no use to
me because I only ever use Arachne), and I assume that Arachne would not
be able to communicate fully back to the counter script.
I am starting to be convinced that javascript would have to be the
most pressing need for the future development of Arachne.
Glenn's On/Off switch is a step in the right direction, but I am
finding more and more websites where I cannot even read news stories
because the text is either called, or even displayed, by javascript.
As an example:
http://www.siliconvalley.com/mld/siliconvalley/4838549.htm
did not display the story text, although WizLynx was able to show it, so
it isn't javascript per se in this instance.
To get to this story I had to extract the actual text and save it to
another file. Arachne couldn't display it. :(
Regards,
Ron
