Also interesting is the remarkable fact that Microsoft has never had any debt and sits upon vast pools of cash. But for the last three years or so the stock has not held its price. So it would make sense to pay out some of that cash as a dividend. Gotta keep the troops happy since their stock options aren't worth much in todays Wall Street environment. Also, the Republicans are about to make dividend income non-taxable. That's right, under the Bush economic stimulus program about to be enacted by Congress dividends will be tax free.
