The best place to start looking for the download packages is at "http://www.washington.edu/pine" PINE is freeware. Several fellow Arachne list members and myself have used the DOS versions of PINE. All of us have reported that the DOS versions suffer frequent lockups and crashes due to memory management problems. PINE for DOS is usable, but you can expect to experience at times the reported problems. The DOS versions of PINE are compatible only with IMAP servers. They have no support whatsover for POP3 servers. The Window$ and Unixish verions have POP3 support. I have never tried any of the Window$ versions. I really like to use the Unixish versions running in a remote shell. The user interface for the Unixish versions have the same look and feel as the DOS versions. When accessing "modern and upgraded" IMAP servers such as the one running at "MyRealBox.com", "imap.myrealbox.com", the DOS versions of PINE will stall and hiccup and issue some most peculiar error messages. After throwing a lengthy fit of hiccups and stalls PINE will parse your messages and display them. The DOS versions don't have this problem when accessing the older and obsolete types of IMAP servers such as the one that was formerly running at "subdimension.com". When running a DOS version of PINE to access the old IMAP server formerly running at "subdimension.com" I sometimes experienced lockups and crashes due to memory management problems, but I did not experience any hiccups and stalls and strange error messages as with "imap.myrealbox.com". The Unixish versions of PINE work fine with both the IMAP server and the POP3 server at "MyRealBox.com".
