Sorry. Sometimes I get off in a world of my own where things are better
and more logical and I forget what the reasl world is like...

I'm never surprised at how basic their questions can be. But one must
remember that they are used to dealing with idiots, most of the time.

As an example which I am assured REALLY HAPPENED! (Is that possible? Of
course it is)

"My problem is that the cursor on the screen has disappeared."

"What were you doing before it disappeared? What programs were you
running?"

"I was using Word for Windows to write a letter, then suddenly the
cursor just disappeared."

"OK. Now if you move the mouse around and click it, does any of the
text get highlighted?"

"No, the text is gone as well."

"Is there anything on the screen?"

"No."

"Hmmm... maybe the cable to the monitor has come unpligged. Can you see
whether it is still plugged in securely?"

"No, it's a bit hard...."

"Why is that?"

"The lights have all gone out. I think we've got a blackout."

"OK. I see. Now have you still got the boxes the computer came in? Right
then pack everything up and take it back to where you bought it and tell
them you are TOO F***ING STUPID TO OWN A COMPUTER!"
