I'm thinking you would mark it as Prototype, with a comment that it is
intended to become Core (and thus be held to the Core expectations) at
some point in the future.  [s/Core/Integrated/g re: sch's comments...]

You would use the version info to differentiate it from previous versions,
and from any future replacements...

If only we had repos out there where we could playtest this :-)
