Garrett: I think that there was some miscommunication. On February 3rd Mark Carlson sent out an email where he said:
> It's time again for opensolaris elections and a number of us who have > had core contributor grants have had them expire. I took the liberty > of grepping through the grant list to find folks who are in the same > situation. > > If you are in the list below, and would like to renew your core > contributor status please send me an email (mark.carlson at sun.com) > and I will gather these up into a single email asking for +1's to > save all our inboxes from the deluge. My account appeared in the list provided, so I assumed that I was already a Core Contributor and asked Mark to renew my Core Contributor grant. However, after double checking, I was only previously a Contributor and not a Core Contributor. So, I agree with Garrett. I would like for only my Contributor grant in the ARC community to be renewed and I agree that it does not make sense for me to be a voting Core Contributor in the ARC community since I am not a full LSARC member. >> The following are ARC interns who are nominated for Core Contributors >> of the Architecture Process and Tools community: >> yippi, Brian Cameron > > While I like Brian and think he'd be a great person to represent us, I'm > concerned about what policies we might already have set in place > equating CC to Full Member. Thank you for the kind words. I was invited to be an LSARC member earlier this year. However, I declined because I am also serving on the GNOME Foundation board of directors and am acting as their secretary. There are only so many volunteer projects a person can focus on effectively. Also, for the record, I am already a Core Contributor for the OpenSolaris Desktop community. > So, I'm with-holding a +1. I am only seeking that my Contributor grant be renewed. Apologies for the confusion. Brian
