Good practice is to use svn export, generate a tar > ball of the source and upload it into ftp/other/mplayer.
Agreed. Keep it at "mplayer". Please make sure to put the tarballs in ftp/other, as this covers us in terms of GPL compliance and makes it easier for users to rebuild the same package via abs.
