smplayer stopped working now. :-) Maybe it needs to be rebuild. It also 
complains about an incorrect version of mplayer. It seems it does not contain 
the svn revision: "MPlayer dev-SVN-rUNKNOWN-4.3.2"
  

smplayer asked me what version of mplayer I was using.  I selected 
greater than 1.0rc2 and all worked fine from then on.  Rebuilding 
smplayer does not help.
