Thank you, Christian,

I'll add that to my to-do list, even though it doesn't fit within the
timeframe and, for example, Firefox is one of the GTK apps that doesn't
have any problems at all on my install. Using a brand-new user account,
I tried out various window managers and desktop environments, in the
process, I noticed a few peculiarities, but they weren't helpful to me.
It's enough for me today. Today, for more than six hours straight, I did
nothing but try in vain to get to the bottom of the cause and document
everything in emails to myself [1].

I have other things to take care of today and over the next few days, so
I’ll have to leave it at that for now.

Regards,
Ralf
