Exactly, so I would get in touch with the upstream team to find out whether the project is dead or if the fork is worth taking seriously. If the fork is still actively maintained, I would remove the patch from the PKGBUILD and switch to the current fork. The maintainer and the last packager from the AUR apparently no longer maintain it.
