Not exactly sure, where it should go to reach packaging.
Hi,
the package without the symlink you requested is a core package. You can
easily create the symlink yourself if you think it's appropriate for
your installation.
Package Contents
"[snip]
usr/bin/zstdcat
[snip]" - https://archlinux.org/packages/core/x86_64/zstd/

Ralf
I must be missing something??
Why not use 'zstdcat' when you want 'zstdcat' and 'zcat' when you
want 'zcat'? In my never ending war against typing, were I inclined, I
would probably shorten both with aliases such as:
alias zc='/usr/bin/zcat'
alias zsc='/usr/bin/zstdcat'
(both are current unused and available on my box)
Put it in your .bashrc (or whatever file you source aliases from). No
system changes necessary, no imposing changes on others that may not
want them, just job done.
Nothing wrong with new, good ideas, but keep "what I would like." and
"what we should force on the community." separate. The second should
only be considered if there is broad community by-in and where the
benefits significantly outweigh the disruption to those not wanting the
change.
