I would like to have some information from qmail/vpopmail users:
- What patches do you use or want to use?

net-qmail 1.05 basically is qmail 1.03 with the recommended patches already included

Beside them that are mostly to fix up bugs I would put in you attention the following:

http://www.shupp.org/
The following patch are included:

* smtp auth
* spf
* qmail-queue (to allow for virus scanners)
* maildir++ patch
* support oversize dns packets (not necessary if you use dnscache)
* chkuser (check for local vpopmail users, envelope syntax. requires vpopmail to be previously installed)
* spam throttle
* qregex (regular expression matching in badmailfrom and badmailto)
* big concurrency (set the spawn limit above 255)
If you use the above take a look at the following

Form netqmail page, at the end
Bill Shupp has put together a TLS + SMTP Auth patch specifically for netqmail-1.05. Ted Fines has a patch which combines this with viruscan.

A last note....
http://www.nrg4u.com/
New: silly qmail syndrome patch (Updated 20030105!), See graphs without and with patch.

It seem to be some kind of performance patch but on the site there are no more information

- Do you use vpopmail with other MTAs than qmail?

Actually I do not use vpopmail but I plan to switch to qmail soon.

Roberto

I've patched up a vpopmail that compiles without qmail installed and
doesn't require root to build. It also installs in FHS way (yay! debian
\o/).
The chkuser patch requires vpopmail to be installed, what do we think of
this?

vpopmail
qmail
qmail-toaster (where toaster is the Shupp.org version)
