The fonts being blurred in .ps output is often caused by the dvips conversion process. The optimal approach to this in my experience is to create a .dvipsrc file in your /home and ensure it contains the following 2 lines:
p +psfonts.cmz p +psfonts.amz These force dvips to substitute the appropriate fonts.
